BRYAN WILSON – 05.19.2023

BEN JONES ON THE OFFENCE

“Offensively, we’re just trying to keep doing the same things, obviously our powerplay got us a big goal the other night, so (we’re) looking to rely on that again and then hopefully chip in a couple 5-on-5.”

ON THE DETAILS

“Our group really bought in… it’s a time where you have to dig in. Every shot block, every stick on puck matters, little details like that really make a difference at the end of the day and our group knew that we really had to sell out for each other … obviously, our season was on the line, and it (is again) tonight. We want to keep playing, we want to keep being together and we want to make a good run at this, so (we’re) going to look for the same thing tonight.”

ON STAYING EVEN KEELED

“A big motto for us throughout the playoffs has been (staying) even keel. Bringing the emotion but not letting it consume us … whether it’s calls here and there or changes in momentum… we’ve got to stay even keeled and confident as a group.”

ON THE OPPONENT

“That’s a great team over there… we know they’re going to bring it as well, and we’ve just got to get one more goal than they do.”

DON NACHBAUR ON THE OFFENSIVE ATTACK

“Playoffs have been tight checking and it’s basic principles for us. It’s getting pucks to the net, getting bodies to the net. It’s not really a secret to scoring that you have to be within the circles and that’s a big focus for our hockey team at this point of the season.”

ON GETTING TO THE GOALIE

“We’ve been really good at getting bodies towards the goaltender, taking away his eyes and finding rebounds and basically scoring really tough goals in tough areas. So, it won’t be any different tonight, even though it’s Game 5, it’s simple principles for us.”

ON IDENTITY

“We’ve been a character team all year. We’ve been hard on the forecheck all year, we’re not trying to be a fancy team at this point… it won’t be any different in Game 5.”

JEREMIE POIRIER ON SACRIFICE

“We played a pretty gritty game (in Game 4), we battled for each other, we played hard, we sacrificed our body and put our body on the line for the team and came out with a win. I think that’s what we need to keep doing.”

ON STAYING OUT OF THE BOX

“They’ve got good players on the other side that can make plays, so for us to stay out of the box and play (our) 5-on-5 game is going to be important.”
