The Wranglers found their scoring touch on the road against the Coachella Valley Firebirds Friday night, putting up a half-dozen goals en route to a 6-4 victory to earn their second win of the season.

Jakob Pelletier and Mitch McLain each had a pair, while Ben Jones and Radim Zohorna added singles.

Friday’s game was played Everett, Wash.,  at Angel of the Winds Arena, the home of the Western Hockey League’s Everett Silvertips, former team of Wranglers head coach Mitch Love and goaltender Dustin Wolf.

Wolf got the start for Calgary and was busy between the pipes, making 32 saves in the game.

Both teams traded chances in the opening period, with the lone goal coming off the stick of Pelletier on the powerplay for his first of the season.

The Wranglers scored a stampede of goals in the second period, tallying two goals on three shots during a five-goal outburst. Jones scored on a breakaway at the tail-end of a Firebirds powerplay to extend the lead to two, followed up by the second goal of the night from Pelletier, again on the powerplay.

McLain joined the party moments later, notching his first goal of the season and Zohorna added another goal on the 5-on-3 to give the Wranglers a 5-0 lead through forty minutes.

Matthew Phillips continued his hot start to the season for Calgary, adding two assists in the contest to push his points total to seven (3g, 4a) in his first five games.

The Wranglers penalty- kill was sharp throughout the game, blanking the Firebirds on nine attempts.
