The Matchup

The Wranglers are coming off a series sweep in Abbotsford (W 3-0 on Oct. 28, and W 2-1 SO on Oct. 29).

GAME RECAP

Rookies Aydar Suniev and Matvie Gridin shone in Abbotsford.

Suniev notched his first professional goal on Oct. 28, with Gridin sealing the shootout win on Oct. 29.

“I feel more confident towards my game,” said Suniev.

“You get to build chemistry being around the guys and be more comfortable, so that makes it good and helpful.”

Goalie Ivan Prosvetov had a strong performance, tallying his seventh career shutout, and holding the line for the Wranglers in regulation, as well as overtime and the shootout.

“Prosy (Prosvetov) was good all night for us,” said Head Coach Brett Sutter following the Wranglers practice at the Scotiabank Saddledome Friday. “I thought the last 10 minutes he really gave us the chance to win and then obviously he stood tall in the overtime and the shootout.

“I think everyone really stepped up, and I am looking forward to taking that next step in our game.”

Looking ahead, the Wranglers know that they are up against a team with a strong lineup.

The message to the guys: “let’s worry about our game and continue to take steps in those areas we are trying to work on,” stated Sutter.

“They’ve had a good start to the year, they have a really good top nine. It’s going to be a big test for us, it’s going to have to be our best one of the year, and I am looking forward to that challenge.”

The Other Side

The Condors are coming off a 2-1 loss following their game on Oct. 29 against the Colorado Eagles.

Bakersfield sits fifth in the Pacific Division and 21st in the league with a 3-3-1 record.

With key player Matt Savoie in the Edmonton Oilers lineup, the Condors look to veteran Rem Pitlick, who has produced nine points (2 goals, 7 assists) in seven games.
