The Matchup

This marks the second meeting between the two, following a 5-2 Roadrunners win on Jan. 2.

The Wranglers struck first, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the opening period, but Tucson responded late in the frame to even things up before grabbing the go-ahead goal.

From there, the Roadrunners maintained control.

“It’s about getting back to the basics,” said Head Coach Brett Sutter after Friday night’s loss.

“We talk about playing a simple game, and when the energy is low, sometimes you overcomplicate things. We’ve got to focus on the details that matter.”

Discipline proved costly, as Tucson capitalised on 2 of 6 powerplay opportunities.

Despite the result, Rory Kerins continues to make history.

Kerins is currently tied with Matthew Phillips and Jakob Pelletier for the longest point streak in Calgary Wranglers history at 11 games.

One more point this afternoon would give him possession of the record.

Kerins also sits fourth in the AHL in scoring with 33 points, trailing Jakob Pelletier of the Syracuse Crunch.

The Other Side

Tucson holds a 4-0-1-0 record against the Wranglers this season, winning three of the last five meetings.

Still, the Roadrunners sit ninth in the Pacific Division with 31 points, eight points back of the fourth-place Wranglers.

Forward Ben McCartney leads Tucson offensively, ranking eighth in the league with 32 points.

He recorded three assists and a goal in the Jan. 2 matchup and leads his team with 13 goals and 19 assists.
