Don’t Miss The Action
The Matchup
Calgary saw a back-and-forth battle slip away in a 5-3 loss to Laval on Jan. 24.
After surrendering the game’s opening goal, the Wranglers responded with tallies from Dryden Hunt, Lucas Ciona and Aydar Suniev to briefly take a 3-2 lead midway through the second period.
The Rocket answered late in the frame to even the score before taking control in the third period, scoring twice to seal the win.
“It was good seeing a different team, they’re a heck of a team,” said Head Coach Brett Sutter following the contest.
Special teams will be a key focus for Calgary heading into Monday’s rematch.
The Wranglers went 0-for-5 on the powerplay on Saturday, an area Sutter highlighted postgame.
“Five-on-five we were great all night,” said Sutter. “The powerplay and our powerplay players have to be a heck of a lot better than they were. They were way too casual tonight, and that cost us the game.”
“At the end of the day, you know we gotta make sure we are bringing the right mindset tomorrow and have a better effort here on Monday”.

Ivan Prosvetov is expected to get the start between the pipes on Monday.
The Russian netminder, who missed time after suffering an injury on Dec. 2 against Abbotsford, dressed as the backup on Saturday.
Prosvetov carries a 7-5-1-1 record this season, along with a .904 save percentage.
The Other Side
The Rocket enter Monday’s matchup riding momentum as they continue their Western Canada road trip.
Laval previously split a two-game set with the Abbotsford Canucks, taking a 4-3 win on Jan. 20 before falling 2-1 in overtime the following night.
Owen Beck played a key role in Saturday’s victory over Calgary, recording two assists.
Laval currently sits atop the North Division and ranks sixth in the AHL with 52 points.
Veteran forward Laurent Dauphin continues to lead the way offensively, pacing the Rocket with 44 points in 37 games.
He has totaled 10 points over his last 10 outings and picked up an assist in Laval’s Jan. 24 win over the Wranglers.
