Back in action and ready for a rematch, the Wranglers square off once again against the Bakersfield Condors, AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

The Matchup

Calgary looks to bounce back after a 5-1 loss to Bakersfield on Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Condors struck early and controlled the pace, building a multi-goal lead before Aydar Suniev briefly pulled the Wranglers within one with a powerplay marker.

Bakersfield responded in the middle frame, highlighted by a momentum-shifting shorthanded goal, and locked things down defensively in the third period to seal the victory.

The loss leaves Calgary eighth in the Pacific Division with 39 points, but the Wranglers enter this matchup with a noticeably different look.

On Saturday, the Calgary Flames recalled Matvei Gridin and assigned William Strömgren to the Wranglers.

Generating the most buzz, however, is the arrival of Flames top prospect Zayne Parekh, who will suit up for Calgary on a conditioning loan.

“I’m really looking forward to tomorrow,” Parekh shared ahead of the matchup. “Gotta work on my game and continue to get better.”

Parekh will wear No. 39 in his Wranglers debut, though his exact spot in the lineup remains undecided.

During Saturday’s practice, Parekh skated alongside defenceman Nick Cicek.

With new and returning faces in the lineup, the Wranglers carry a fresh sense of momentum into the rematch.

It’s a new game, and a different-looking team.

The Other Side

Momentum favours Bakersfield, whose win on Friday moved the Condors into third place in the Pacific Division with a 20-10-6 record on the season.

Edmonton product James Hamblin led the charge, scoring twice and extending his streak to six points over his last six games.
