The Wranglers dropped a 4-0 decision at Scotiabank Saddledome, as the Tucson Roadrunners skated away with the shutout.
Tucson set the tone early, striking twice in the opening frame.
Ryan McGregor opened the scoring before Ty Tullio doubled the lead, leaving the Wranglers chasing the game after 20 minutes.
Calgary pushed back in a tight-checking second period, generating looks and leaning on a heavier forecheck, but couldn’t find a way past Roadrunners netminder Jaxon Stauber as the second period passed without a goal.
The visitors added insurance in the third when Maveric Lamoureux made it 3-0, and Sammy Walker sealed it with an empty-netter late to put the game out of reach.
Despite the result, rookie Arsenii Sergeev gave the Wranglers a chance, turning aside 28 shots between the pipes.
Tucson now leads in the series 5-0-1-0 against the Wranglers.
The loss closes a demanding six-game stretch in nine days for Calgary.
With a brief window to reset and get some practice time in, the Wranglers now turn their attention to a road trip to Abbotsford for a doubleheader on Jan. 10 and Jan. 11.
