After the All-Star break, the Wranglers are ready to set the tone for the second half of the season, beginning with a showdown against the Manitoba Moose on Feb. 14 and Feb. 16.
The Matchup
The message at practice on Feb. 13 was clear: leave the past in the rearview mirror and focus on what can be controlled.
“Take it day at a time, that’s something that Sutts (Brett Sutter) was talking to us about this morning. Whether it’s a practice day or game day, stick to the details, stay focused,” said defenceman Nick Cicek following the skate.
Both teams return from a five-day pause for All-Star break, a chance to rest, reset, and recharge.
“It was nice, some time to get away from the rink, rest the mind, rest the body,” explained Cicek. “We are excited to get back to it, I think the reset was good for everyone, so we’re going to hopefully go out with this first game running and see how it goes.”
Friday marks the first meeting of the season between the Wranglers and Moose.
Last year, the Wranglers held the edge in the season series, finishing 6-2.
The Wranglers are aiming to return to the win column after a 6-5 overtime loss to the Tucson Roadrunners on Feb. 7.
Calgary is ninth in the Pacific Division with 44 points on the season.
Sam Morton continues to produce offensively, extending his point streak with seven in his last six games.

The Other Side
The Moose enter the matchup following back-to-back losses to the Texas Stars on Feb. 6 (2-1) and Feb. 7 (4-3).
With 47 points through 42 games, Manitoba sits fourth in the Central Division.
Mason Shaw leads the Moose with 30 points in 41 games.
He has recorded 10 points in his last nine outings, including two of the team’s three goals in their Feb. 7 contest against Texas.
