A well anticipated rematch, with the Wranglers looking to take the sweep at home.
The Matchup
The Wranglers are back at the Scotiabank Saddledome today to face off against the Bakersfield Condors, the AHL Affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.
The Wranglers are coming off 4-3 overtime win against the Condors after a heated matchup Saturday.
“Give them credit for sticking with it for 65 minutes, and finding a way to win,” saidHead Coach Brett Sutter.
Looking ahead to the rematch, Sutter has a few areas of focus for his team.
“I think we can be cleaner, I think we can manage the game a little bit better, I think we will do a better job tomorrow after a few adjustments,” he explained.
“Early in the year, lots of new faces, lots of young guys, it’s just about holding each other accountable.”
One of those young, new faces is Matvei Gridin, who now leads the charge in assists, as well as sitting second among AHL rookies.
Gridin recorded two assists in Saturday’s victory.
“I think Gridin has been a huge addition for us,” shared veteran Sam Morton, who scored the overtime winner off a feed from Gridin.
“I think he’s going to be a stud and he keeps developing every day.”
The Other Side
The Condors, coming off their third straight loss, now sit fifth in the Pacific Division.
Cam Dineen, Rem Pitlick tallied markers for the Condors, with Connor Clattenburg forcing the overtime to keep his team in the race.
