The Matchup
The Wranglers roll into their showdown with the San Jose Barracuda riding the high of a thrilling 5-4 overtime comeback Friday night in Bakersfield against the Bakersfield Condors.
After surrendering an early lead, Calgary responded with resilience.
William Stromgren kickstarted the push in the opening frame, finishing a crisp passing sequence to pull the Wranglers even.
The second period tested Calgary’s resolve as Bakersfield built a two-goal cushion, but Turner Ottenbreit struck late to cut the deficit and swing momentum heading into the third.
In the final frame, David Silye buried his first of the season to knot the score.
When the Condors regained the lead on the power play, the stage was set for late drama, and Martin Frk delivered, wiring a trademark one-timer to extend his point streak to five games and force overtime.
Extra time belonged to Daniil Miromanov, who went coast-to-coast and snapped home the winner to seal the statement victory.
Now, the Wranglers turn their attention to San Jose, a team they have yet to solve this season.
In their last meeting on Jan. 31, Calgary dropped a 7-2 decision.
Stromgren will once again be a key catalyst after a three-point performance (1G, 2A) against Bakersfield.
The forward has been a steady contributor all season, totaling 34 points (8G, 26A) in 44 games, including five points over his last four outings.

The Other Side
The Barracuda enter the matchup with momentum of their own after a 4-3 shootout victory over the San Diego Gulls on Feb. 18.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, San Jose clawed back with a strong second to take the lead early in the third.
The Gulls responded to force overtime, but the Barracuda took the victory in shootout to secure the extra point.
Jimmy Huntington sparked the comeback effort, opening the scoring and continuing his strong campaign.
With Filip Bystedt recalled by the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 18, Huntington now leads the Barracuda in scoring.
The forward has recorded 30 points (10G, 20A) in 40 games this season.
San Jose currently sits fourth in the Pacific Division with 59 points.
