The Matchup
The Wranglers return to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Dec. 9 for a 7 p.m. puck drop against the Coachella Valley Firebirds, back in front of their home crowd after a 10-game road swing.
Calgary closed out that rtrip with a hard-fought 2-1 overtime loss to the Ontario Reign on Dec. 7, finishing the stretch with 10 points.
They enter tonight sitting fifth in the Pacific Division with 26 points and an 11-9-3-1 record.
The Wranglers will be without their top-performing defenceman, Hunter Brzustewicz, who has been recalled by the NHL’s Calgary Flames.
Stepping up on the blue-line will be Daniil Miromanov, who has made an immediate impact since joining the team in November, recording nine points and scoring against the Reign on Dec. 6.

Another storyline to watch: veteran forward Martin Frk sits just one point away from reaching the 400-point milestone in his AHL career.
The Other Side
Coachella Valley arrives riding a three-game win streak, most recently securing a 2-1 victory over the Abbotsford Canucks on Dec. 7.
The Firebirds are 1-1-1 against the Wranglers this season, with their latest meeting on Nov. 23 ending in a 5-4 overtime win for Calgary.
The Firebirds continue to be led by standout forward Jagger Firkus, who has 23 points in 21 games.
Firkus added two goals and an assist against Abbotsford on Dec. 6 and currently sits seventh league scoring.
